6. EVALUATION
How effectively and efficiently did you work?
Self-evaluation is an important element in learning how you learn—metacognition. As your assignment is completed and turned in, it is time to think about the quality of your process (the many steps you followed to get to the end) and the product (the assignment itself).
6.1 Judge the result (effectiveness)
• Is the task completed; is the problem resolved? |
6.2 Judge the process (efficiency)
• How well did you perform in each step? |
How to complete step 6 successfully (or how the final product is not the end)
1. Refer to the assignment sheet, rubric, model, or any other document where you can find the criteria to be met. Check each element against your own work. How well did you do in comparison to the assignment guidelines?
2. Keep records of your project as you go. Go back and check your notes often. Use this information as feedback for future projects.
3. Take the time to reflect on the process and the product once the assignment is completed. These are important lessons that will help you learn how you learn and make better decisions.
4. Self-evaluation requires that you be honest and fair with yourself. Don't be afraid to discuss your project's flaws or successes.
